Animated Notation - a tool for contemporary composition and performance practice in live electronic music context
Since the avant-garde, composers of contemporary music were looking for alternative music notation approaches. Today, handheld devices, computers and software offer various new possibilities to expand our perception of what music notation can be and how it can work. Animated Notation is one of these new approaches. Christian M. Fischer will give an introduction to Animated Notation and demonstrate it's applicationin contemporary composition and performance practice with a focus on live electronic music. A brief historical and theoretical sketch and practical examples (especially from Christian's piece "CMYK", that will be performed during the evening concert on the 10.) will give an insight into this young and emerging field of research and practice.
Christian M. Fischer is currently pursuing PhD studies in the composition department of Estonian Academy of Music and Theater in Tallinn, dealing with Animated Notation for Live Electronic Music.
